Overview:
Science Club for Girls (SCFG) is committed to addressing the critical need for more women in the STEM workforce. The non-profit aims to foster excitement, confidence and literacy in STEM subjects for girls and young women from underrepresented communities with free, experiential community-based programs.

On April 8th, 2021, SCFG virtually hosted The Catalyst Awards via Yotme’s digital event platform. These awards were an opportunity to celebrate over 26 years of empowering women and girls in STEM and honored two inspirational women: Beth Chandler, CEO of YW Boston and Rana el Kaliouby Ph.D., CEO and co-founder of Affectiva, and author of Girl Decoded. The Catalyst Awards recognize the outstanding leadership of individuals and organizations who have made a meaningful impact on SCFG and its mission to build a more diverse, inclusive STEM community.

The awards provide an opportunity to hear inspiring stories from the community, see the clubs ‘in action’ and meet and network with some remarkable women who are paving the way for a more diverse and inclusive STEM world. To achieve their goal of successfully delivering an awards ceremony that also included networking opportunities and the option to donate to their cause, SCFG harnessed Yotme’s Virtual Venue to make all this possible from one single platform.

The Approach:

Event ticketing: Optimizing Yotme’s event management capabilities, the non-profit can deliver a seamless experience to their sponsors and follow up with targeted emails.

Packages and donations: Yotme’s comprehensive event platform eliminates the need for several different software providers so that SCFG can run their ticketing, event and donor management all from one simple and easy to use platform. This in turn delivers more profitable and engaged relationships with supporters while capturing audience insights.

Virtual Venue: Yotme’s powerful technology is perfect for virtual events. Yotme’s Virtual Venue means no need for Zoom integrations or third-party streaming and therefore provides SCFG with the ability to take donations, host panel discussions and networking rooms all from one easy to use platform.

Results:

  • 63 donors
  • $220K+ sponsored

Measurable ROI:
With all SCFG’s event information held centrally, Yotme’s CRM function can easily analyze the success of their event and turn attendee data into actionable marketing intelligence.

Conclusion:
STEM skills are becoming increasingly crucial in the job market and if girls aren’t interested in STEM subjects when they’re young, there’s a danger that they’ll be left behind when it comes to career opportunities. Moreover, there is a drastic shortage of STEM workers when we are facing increasingly more complex problems with solutions found in STEM. We need to expand the STEM workforce, and SCFG fills this critical need.

Harnessing the power of Yotme’s Virtual Venue meant that SCFG could truly deliver their award ceremony with networking opportunities virtually with great success. Yotme’s comprehensive platform allows for straight-forward and effortless hosting resulting in more profitable and engaged relationships with consumers and supporters.

Saphier Events produced the event and configured the event on Yotme. “Yotme was a great match for the SCFG audience. The networking rooms before the program increased the excitement before the program and really allowed guests to connect and feel engaged.” (Jennifer Saphier-Whitman)

Support at events like these ensure that SCFG will continue to make an impact and donations from this latest event will fund expansion of free STEM education and mentoring programs that currently serve over 250 girls in grades K-12.
